What you will learn at this facility
Namie Town Ukedo Elementary School, which was hit by the major earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear power plant accident, is open to the public as remains of the earthquake to be passed on to future generations and to provide an opportunity to think about disaster prevention.
At the time of the earthquake, all the children and teachers who were at the school were miraculously able to evacuate to safety. But the school building clearly bears the scars which tell the story of the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami.
It is a valuable facility where you can actually see and feel the conditions of that time.
