Panel exhibition
The exhibition shows the path from the Great East Japan Earthquake to the present day in chronological order.
It traces the history of the “earthquake, tsunami, nuclear power plant accident, evacuation, recovery, and reconstruction,” using photographs and videos.
-
Damaged blackboard and study desks
Blackboard and study desks of the “former Iwaki City Toyoma Junior High School,” which were damaged by the tsunami on the day of graduation ceremony are on display.
The comments on the blackboard have been preserved as they were at that time. It clearly shows that ordinary everyday life of the people certainly existed there before the earthquake.
-
Hands-on exhibits
Disaster prevention goods are also on display.
You will know what you will need in the event of an emergency. Hold the items in your hands and check how they work and what they are used for.
-
The Miracle Piano
The grand piano that was in the gymnasium of the former Iwaki City Toyoma Junior High School is on display.
After it was damaged by the tsunami, the piano was restored by a tuner in the city and is now known as the ”Miracle Piano.”
